Ask an economist what came next and you got a shrug. Ask a talent leader and you got the same shrug, just more expensive. But buried in that chaos was a case for optimism most people were too busy panicking to notice: when nobody has the future of work figured out, nobody has a head start either. The talent leaders walking into that room weren’t behind. They were early, whether they realized it yet or not.
